Echo ihr aktuelles Album „Imago Cells“ Live in Surround. Deutlich elektronischere Tracks als auf den Vorgängeralben treffen bei dieser ekstatischen Live Band Performance auf die spektakulären Möglichkeiten einer Surroundbeschallung und Umberto Echos Dubmix-Künste, die schon in Stereo legendär sind. So erwartet alle Fans von tanzbarer Dub-, Trance- und organischer Technomusik ein absolut außergewöhnliches Klangerlebnis, das man auf keinen Fall verpassen sollte.

Rund 20 Jahre sind Dub Spencer & Trance Hill im Musikbusiness unterwegs und nach wie vor hungrig wie eine Raupe im Blätterwald. Vermeintlich dominierte dabei stets die Dub-Komponente, egal, ob sie humorvollintelligent mit Weihnachtsliedern, Spoken Word oder Italowestern vermischt wurde. Doch spielte immer auch das Elektronische, Psychedelische, der «Trance» eine wichtige Rolle im Schaffen der europaweit bekannten Schweizer Band, was live zu schweißtreibenden Shows der Sonderklasse führte.
Nun endlich erhält diese Facette ihren gebührenden Platz auf dem neuen, zwölften Longplayer des Quartetts: «Imago Cells» heißt das Album und markiert eine Metamorphose. Imagozellen sind dafür verantwortlich, dass eine Raupe sich in einen Schmetterling verwandelt. Zunächst haben sie keine Funktion, werden sogar abgeblockt. Doch es gelingt ihnen, die alten Zellen für sich zu gewinnen und neues Leben zu schaffen: Das diente uns als Ausgangslage für die neue Platte.
Die Analogie der Imagozellen wird auch bei revolutionären Ereignissen verwendet: Ein altes System gilt es zu überwinden, damit etwas Schöneres entstehen kann. Nun ist es nicht so, dass Dub Spencer & Trance Hill ihre dubbigen Wurzeln überwinden wollen. Doch liegt es im Naturell der vier Luzerner, unbekannte Äste zu ersteigen, weshalb sie erstmals dem «Trance» im eigenen Bandnamen näher nachgehen.

Dabei bleiben Masi Stalder (eb), Markus Meier (g) sowie Julian Dillier (dr) ihren Instrumenten treu und lassen Drummaschinen oder Computer vorerst links liegen – lediglich Philipp Greter (keys) hat sich ein neues, stattliches Synthesizer-Sammelsurium zugelegt.
Und doch spielt das Quartett hier Musik, die bisher vor allem ihren Live-Gigs vorenthalten war.

Dub Spencer & Trance Hill have been in the music business for about 20 years and are still as hungry as a caterpillar in the leaf forest. Supposedly the dub component always dominated, no matter if it was mixed humorously intelligent with Christmas songs, Spoken Word or Italowestern.
But the electronic, the psychedelic, the "trance" always played an important role in the work of the Europe-wide known Swiss band, which led live to sweaty shows of the special class.
Now, finally, this facet gets its due place on the new, twelfth longplayer of the quartet: "Imago Cells" is the name of the album and marks a metamorphosis. Imago cells are responsible for a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. At first, they have no function, are even blocked. But they manage to win over the old cells and create new life: This served us as a starting point for the new record.
The analogy of imago cells is also used in revolutionary events: An old system has to be overcome so that something more beautiful can emerge. Now it's not that Dub Spencer & Trance Hill want to overcome their dubby roots. But it's in the nature of the four Lucerne-based musicians to climb unknown branches, which is why they are exploring the "trance" in their own band name for the first time.

Masi Stalder (eb), Markus Meier (g) as well as Julian Dillier (dr) stay true to their instruments and leave drum machines or computers aside for the time being - only Philipp Greter (keys) has acquired a new, stately synthesizer collection. And yet the quartet plays music here that was previously reserved for their live gigs.
