Pippo Pollina – Solo in Concerto

Es wirkt wie ein Blick in die Werkstatt: Da arbeitet einer, macht sich Gedanken,
greift zur Gitarre, setzt sich ans Klavier.
Lieder entstehen, Assoziationen folgen den Eingebungen der Momente.
Sie sind Erinnerungen und Reflexionen aus der Perspektive des Privaten, persönlich,
wertschätzend, emotional.
„Nell’attimo“ (Im Augenblick) ist das Skizzenbuch eines Cantautore, der die Vielfalt im Kleinen sucht, in der Klarheit von berührenden, melancholischen Liedern.
Es ist ein Fest des Augenblicks, besungen mit der Hingabe eines Musikanten, der die Welt in Worte und Melodien fassen kann.
Es geht Pippo Pollina dabei um Intensität und Gegenwart, aber nicht zwangsläufig nur um Harmonie.
Schließlich ist nicht alles ruhig, nicht jeder Song ein Schulterklopfen, auch wenn das Versöhnliche ein Leitmotiv seiner Musik sein könnte.
Denn er blickt dem Alltag über die Schulter, den Menschen in ihrer Ambivalenz, bis hin zu den Stationen der eigenen Karriere, die ihn über bald vier Jahrzehnte hinweg in der musikalischen Gegenwart etabliert hat.
„Am Anfang hätte es ein Best-Of-Album sein sollen, eine Wiederbesichtigung meiner Lieder ganz
alleine“, erinnert sich Pippo Pollina an die Entstehungsphasen von „Nell’attimo“.
„Ich habe immerhin 24 Platten gemacht, manche davon sind mehr als 30 Jahre alt.
Aber dann hatte ich so viele Stücke komponiert.
Das Album wurde innerhalb von zwei Wochen geschrieben, acht Lieder sind neu, dazu
kommt meine italienische Version eines Songs von Element Of Crime.
Und dann ist da noch ‚Aspettando che sia mattina‘, das erste Stück meines ersten Albums, das ich im November 1986 aufgenommen hatte und nun noch einmal das Programm eröffnet.
Es ist ein Lied, das damals für einen Freund entstanden ist, mit dem mich viele Hoffnungen und Träume verbunden haben und bis heute weiterhin verbinden“.
Das Album „Nell’attimo“ ist daher einerseits eine Standortbestimmung mit Themen, die Pippo Pollina
bis heute beschäftigen. Es geht um die Beziehungen zwischen Menschen, Mann und Frau, Eltern und
Kindern, um Freundschaft, auch um den eigenen Platz in der Welt und um den Gegensatz zwischen
armen und reichen Ländern, bis hin zur Unfähigkeit, aus der Sicht des Wohlstands mit der Armut
umgehen zu können.
Bis auf wenige Passagen, wo Stefania Verità mit Cello, Gianvito Di Maio mit dem Akkordeon und die Klarinette von Roberto Petroli die Lieder ergänzen, ist es ein ausschließlich solistisch gestaltetes Album, das seine Kraft über die Kompositionen, die Stimme und ein Instrument entfaltet.

Es ist damit auch Ausgangspunkt einer Solo-Tournee, die Pippo Pollina im kommenden Frühjahr durch die Hallen und Theater Europas führen wird.
„Nell’attimo“ ist also ein Album für die Reise, sowohl konkret, als auch in übertragenem Sinne.
Und es ist ein charmantes Resümee aus der Klangwerkstatt des Sängers, vorläufig, jedoch mit zeitlos gültigem Kern: „Über die Jahre habe ich viele neue Stile kennengelernt und Impulse bekommen.
Aber es gibt einen klaren roten Faden. Denn die Musik ist handgemacht.
Deshalb auch der Titel ‚Im Augenblick - Zehn handgemachte Lieder‘.
Die Musik entsteht durch die Bewegung der Hände auf einem Instrument, auf direktem Weg.
Der Klang kommt von einem akustischen Material, Holz, Metall, Nylon.
Es gibt keine Maschine und keine digitalen Interventionen, die die Musik verändern.
Die Menschlichkeit der Kunst istbei diesem Album klar hörbar.
Ich habe immer versucht, sie in den Vordergrund zu stellen, auch wenn
ich eine moderne Maschinerie verwendet habe.
Diesmal aber steht das Handgemachte und Direkte klar im Zentrum“.

Songs come into being, associations follow the inspiration of the moment.
Memories and reflections from a private perspective, personal, appreciative, emotional.
“Nell’attimo” (At the moment) is the sketchbook of a cantautore who looks for diversity in small things, in the clarity of touching, melancholic songs.
It is a celebration of the moment, sung with the devotion of a musician who can capture the world in words and melodies.
Pippo Pollina is about intensity and presence, but not necessarily just about harmony.
After all, not everything is calm, not every song is a pat on the back, even if reconciliation could be a leitmotif in his music.
By looking over the shoulder of everyday peoples life with their ambivalence, right up to the stages of
his own career, which have established him in the musical present over almost four decades.
“In the beginning it should have been a best-of album, a revisiting of my songs,” remembers Pippo Pollina about the development phases of “Nell’attimo”. “I have made at least 24 records, some are more than 30 years old. But then I had composed so many songs. The album was written within two weeks, eight
songs are new, plus the Italian version of a song by Element Of Crime. And then there is 'Aspettando
che sia mattina', the first track from my first album, which I recorded in November 1986 and this one
opens the album again. It is a song that was written for a friend with whom many hopes and dreams are connected me to this day."
The album “Nell’attimo” is a determination of position with topics that
still concern Pippo Pollina today.
It's about the relationships between people, man and woman, parents and children, about friendship,
also about one's own place in the world and about the contrast between poor and rich countries, up to the inability to compare prosperity with poverty to be able to deal with.
There are just a few passages where Stefania Verità (cello), Gianvito Di Maio (accordion) and Roberto Petroli's clarinet replenish the songs, this album is exclusively designed as a solo album that unfolds its power through the compositions, the voice accompanied with an instrument.
It is also the starting point for a solo tour that
Pippo Pollina will take through the halls and theaters through Europe next spring.
“Nell’attimo” is an album for the journey, both concretely and figuratively.
And it is a charming summary of the singer's sound workshop, preliminary,
but with a timelessly valid core: “Over the years I have
gotten to know many new styles and received inspiration. But there is a clear common thread.
Because the music is handmade. Hence the title 'Right now - Ten handmade songs'.
The music is created by the movement of the hands on an instrument, in a direct way.
The sound comes from an acoustic material,wood, metal, nylon.
There is no machine or digital intervention that changes music.
The humanity of art is clearly audible on this album.
I always tried to put them in the foreground, even when I used modern machinery.
This time, however, the focus is clearly on the handmade and directness.
